Frequently Asked Questions

Town & Country Home Inspection would be pleased to perform your inspection. You may have questions before you select your inspector. What follows are some answers that will help inform you; if you don't find what you're looking for don't hesitate to email...

01  How much does it cost?

This is answered on the Services page, and varies with house size and if you select an ancillary service. The fee will work out around 0.1% of the house purchase price; a fairly modest cost as it helps inform and prepare you for decision making and ownership.

02  What are the main areas covered by the home inspection?

The main areas are Roof, Exterior, Basement/Crawlspace, Foundation, Structure, Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, Fireplace, Attic, Insulation, Ventilation, Doors, Windows, Interior. Town & Country also relates these items to moisture/water infiltration, and energy consumption.

03  A home inspection is what kind of inspection?

It's a visual inspection. Since things can't be taken apart, and holes cut, for example, it can't witness and gather evidence of hidden things. However, a well trained eye can see things in plain sight that the untrained eye doesn't recognize as a problem. It can be difficult for the untrained eye to consider so many different aspects of the home, and keep things straight. One minute it's fascia and ventilation, another it's reversed ungrounded and grounded conductors, and the next it's an improperly notched joist.
